Union Street was an idea born to bring back the fascinating history of chocolate. It was all inspired by an individual by the name of Joseph Fry who began making chocolate in 1759 outside of his small home. He opened his first chocolate business on Union Street in the heart of Bristol, England. With a true love for chocolate and as a chocolate specialist, the family-run business took on innovative methods to craft the richest forms of distinguished chocolates from around the world. Evidently, the business went from a small family business to one of the largest commercial producers of chocolate by 1847. Thus, J. S Fry & Sons was in business for an amazing and successful 154 years before Cadbury, the largest commercial chocolate manufacturing company, took over.
With Union Street Chocolates, we want to bring back what Joseph Fry created! We believe his story is the HIS-STORY of chocolate! Union Street was named after the street he first founded the company on in 1761. The chocolate world today has been dominated by a small number of extremely large corporations thus, the innovation and passion for chocolate has slowly deteriorated. But, our desire is strong and we want to continue revolutionizing chocolate with new ideas and true passion. Our mission is to continue Joseph Fry’s legacy because the progress in the world of chocolate is a never ending one!
